Culture of the city Rize ;  The city  Rize located on the shore of Turkey's eastern Black Sea. Rize is situated on a fairly steep terrain between the Kackar Mountains and the Black Sea, northeast of Anatolia. Rize has a very green nature thanks to its many trees, endemic plants and plateaus. Streams, rivers, valleys, mountains and glacial lakes decorate its geography. Apart from nature, cultural and historical heritages are very important. It stands at a point where Gregorian, Armenian, Turkish, Laziko, Pontic, Caucasian, Cristian, and Muslim cultures intersect.

Plateaus of Rize ;  The Ayder, Anzer, Ovit, Pokut Yaylası, Sal Yaylasi, Gito, Elevit, Kavron Yaylasi, Huser Yaylasi plateaus and the Kackar Mountains are open to tourism. The mountain houses serve as pensions for mountaineering, hiking and photography tourism. The ideal season for the Rize region is especially from April to September. 170 days a year it is raining and the amount is 2300 mm per year. Especially May is the best time to walk among the flowers and get to know the ric flora and fauna. The Ayder plateau also has hot springs and they are healing. Among numerous waterfalls the best to visit is the Palovit Selalesi waterfall. The 57 km long rafting Firtina Stream that comes from the Kackar Mountains and empties into the Black Sea. There is also the famous Firtina Valley in Camlihemsin.

Monumental visits ;  The castles of the 13th and 14th centuries among the most famous are considered "The Castle of Zil", they protected the route of the commercial caravans of the Anatolian silk route. Other castles are Varos Castle, Ciha Castle and Kız Castle. Do not forget to go through the Senyuva Koprusu bridge from 1696 and take a photo. You will see also some typical houses on the slopes and plateaus, similar to the Memisaga Konagi.

Gastronomy of the Black Sea region ;  The honey from the 2,100 meter high Anzer plain and thousands of flowers is world famous. There is a very special climate for tea gardins, specially those of Cayeli Haremtepe (Ceceva). You can try the pilaf (rice) with the ancovy or the trout with red spots. Muglama is a Kackar Plateau-style egg, ceese and butter omlet. Other important dishes include the “Laz Boregi” pie, the typical local pizza “Pide”, the black cabbage soup “Karalakana Corbasi” and the “Hamsikoy Sutlaci” milk pudding.

Shopping ;  In this region you can buy tea that is very typical and souvenirs like "feretiko" the traditional textiles, handmade knives and shimshir wood (Lat. Buxus sp.)
